We had our cat for 20 years. She broke nothing and she scratched no furniture. She was a treasure. Cats behave the way you train them or not train them.
Visited a very nice couple who owned a friendly black lab with a long and active tail. They also had lot of fragile items on low tables and shelves. I could hardly pay attention to our conversation, waiting for that tail to break something.
