Maybe I’m in the minority, but personally, I truly dislike our anthem. Aside from the musical difficulty in singing it, it glorifies war. Why not a beautiful anthem that sings about the BEAUTY or LOVE of America? “America The Beautiful” or even “God Bless America” come to mind. Other countries have much more melodic anthems…and have lyrics about love of country. (“O Canada” comes to mind).
Just four panels but there’s a lot there! If that’s the reaction she got singing the Anthem, it’s outrageous. Frankly, I’ll bet there are other songs that would be better anthems but this one will do for a while.

That’s OK. Most people only sing loudly during the first verse, the one they can remember.

And if she hadn’t sung it at all, they’d have accused her of protesting against merica. So yeah; can’t win.
