As for the insulin/sugar shock: Diabetic shock can be either high or low blood sugar. One is sugar (glycemic) shock. Insulin shock is when a diabetic takes too much insulin, or doesn’t eat properly to maintain a sufficient blood sugar level. High blood sugar is treated with insulin when a body doesn’t produce enough naturally or is insensitive to it. Low blood sugar (insulin shock) must be treated promptly, whereas high blood sugars have long term consequences, but less immediate risk of coma and death. Cops have it rough when they stop an incoherent wobbly sweaty driver, who may well be slipping into diabetic (insulin) shock.
