Mr. Grumbine was the subject of a rogue scientific experiment gone horribly wrong. He did not want to go to the authorities after his escape, fearing the government would continue to treat him like a lab animal. The “IRS agents” were venture capitalists attempting to stop his blackmail game, his only means of support for years. They also wanted to silence him to ensure they would not be prosecuted for illegal human experimentation and imprisonment.
