    The type of behavioral scientists who write papers like this rarely “prove” anything. They did a study that found a possible correlation between elevated levels of a protein in the brain and cell phone use, and apparently it’s most pronounced when the phone is held close to the head — not playing with an app like Zack is doing. They note “It is still too early to say if any health risks are involved” and further research is needed to confirm the result.

    However, that doesn’t stop the media from misrepresenting the result with a splashy click-bait headline, now does it? Nor does it stop all the tongue-clucking doomsayers from using it to bludgeon “those dang kids” for using cell phones that are going to rot their brains — and, in the process, sounding a lot like their own parents who berated them for watching TV, saying TV was going to rot their brains.
