I think it’s part of Ziggy’s persona to not wear pants. In his universe everything turns against him, he lives a sad life. Maybe the fact that he doesn’t wear pants is due to his low self esteem. I don’t think they will ever put pants on him regularly since it’s part of his trademark. I know that whether he wears pants or not I love him because I can relate to him.
Umm…it’s not the same that the Pearls Before Swine characters don’t wear pants–except maybe Pastis. They are animals, and animals, so far as I see, don’t wear pants. People, at least in daily life, do.
Not to get maudlin or anything, but not too long ago cartoonists were very anonymous, especially invisible to readers. I love the community aspects of comics now.
Where do you find Pearls Before Swine comic strips? I tried to find free comic that had Funky Winkerbean, but couldn’t. I did find a site that I could put under my Favorites, but I have to remember to check it daily.
Pearls Before Swine has plenty of issues of its own, and should focus on itself instead of Ziggy and Family Circus to pick on all the time. Ziggy being as old as it is, doesn’t have to put up with anything from any other comic strip. Make his shirts even shorter from now on, Tom &Tom. It’s no worse than fat girls in mini skirts and short shirts!
I’m starting to think, “Don’t give into the PC police who only have their minds in the gutter!!” Tom II, keep the illustrations simple so the message stays pure. Don’t let your pearls of wisdom be trampled by ungrateful swine.
