I never learned when/why the colors changed. In Reagan’s victories, his states were colored blue. When I was in high school, Republicans were blue; Democrats were red.
I was gone overseas for ten years, and when I returned in 2000 just in time for the Bush/Gore election, I was confused by the map.
Why did the colors change?
