ICE cars are expensive to maintain because of their complexity and price of replacement parts. We had a Honda and each oil change (dealer) was about $180. Three/year. We’ve owned a 2015 Leaf and it was dirt cheap to drive. Sadly the 2015 model had a range of 80-90 miles. Met 99% of our trips though. Wife got a Tesla two years ago and maintenance so far is only a tire rotation. Tesla came to our house and did the rotation for $80. We charge at home at night. Locally hydro power. Oh, I put in windshield washer fluid myself. Big Deal….

while they sound good on paper, the power grid has a hard time keeping up as it is… and the current infrastructure is totally designed for a fuel driven economy. So altho it’s a good idea, realistically, it’ll take decades to switch over
I paid off my used ICE car two years ago and no I am not interested in an EV or another car, if and when the wife decides she wants to learn to drive I may be in the market for a hybrid. EV? You want to see my middle finger? I cannot afford one. Simple economics.
We bought a Venza hybrid this year, we spend 40.00 a month on gas. The extra money was worth it, with insurance discounts also for all of the safety features.

Hybrid and plug-in hybrids will take over until a nationwide charging network can be built and real range averages get above the 500 – 600km ceiling.
