I agree with fritzoid. Aside from getting to read obscenities as part of a high school reading assignment, I got nothing out of “Catcher in The Rye.” “Catch 22” and “Slaughterhouse 5” were two I enjoyed, reading them on my own. After the movie came out, I reread Kurt Vonnegut’s book and had a better understanding.
