    That used to be the response in my time! Now, of course, we don’t do that… As a former teacher, I agree with the latter attitude – however, they do tempt one so, don’t they?

    How about “it’s a pigsty”, for starters? I was not, as a child, the world’s tidiest, but it wasn’t until one morning when I woke up and realized I didn’t want to open my eyes and look at the mess, that I decided I needed to change my ways.

    As a Kid I used a similar decision making process. If I wanted to do something, that I thought might elicit punishment. I tried to determine what the balance the level of punishment to fun ratio was. If the fun exceeded the expected punishment, then the fun won out. I was occasionally wrong, but I NEVER nogoicated with my Dad. I was sure hat would not work out in my favor.
