Books are such a hassle to read. You have to hold them open all the time and you can lose your place. Kindle is the way to go.

I’ve been working on putting my favorite books on my Nook. That way I don’t have to be delicate with them, and the covers don’t fall off, pages fall out, things like that. Heck, I was on my 3rd set of “The Lord of the Rings”…

She can see if the library is hiring. Also, college libraries always seem to be hiring too.

Please, don’t call to see if the library is hiring – if we are, we advertise, if we aren’t, you’re insulting the person who has to tell you no.

I have a Kobo and its the best ever With books, you would carry with you..Oye LOL

There’s a place for both books and ereaders in this world.

Kindles and Nooks are a consumer rip off. You pay full purchase price for an item that costs the marketer nothing to provide and cannot be remarketed to subsequent readers at reduced pricing. I’d prefer to buy a real book that you can loan to a friend or sell at a flea market if you want.

I prefer real books because too much screen time isn’t good and it’s just what I’m used to. I’ll admit that I’m not much help to bookstores, I usually get books from the library and when I buy it’s usually online.

NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don’t want the bookstore to shut down!

There is no reason for book stores to close…….. if they install download points for e-reader users, they can get the best of both worlds..In the UK, we don’t pay tax on books but do on e-books. My walls won’t bear the weight of any more paper books but my Kindle holds many more than my shelves.

Was so disappointed to see our favorite used book store gone the last time we took a trip to San Francisco. Could get good books at good prices and return them for credit to get more good books at reasonable prices.

I spend up to 12 hours a day staring at a screen to make a living. No way I want to stare at one for my compulsory (for my sanity) nightly casual reading. I need bookstores! Especially ones selling SF and Fantasy as those stories give the best escape from reality.

I would have thought that amazon has been destroying small book stores for a lot longer than ebooks.

I love them both. It’s nice to go and sell the books you don’t want anymore. Now that I have a kid, real books (mine) are going to make room for hers. Reading real books to your child is beneficial. I’m not saying I’ll never let an ereader read her a book, but that one on one time is fun and they learn better that way.

I’m still totally disappointed with (Kindle) e-book versions of illustrated books (comic collections, eg) Are there systems out there that can enlarge the illustrations so they can be seen?

I feel Laura’s pain spiritually. No screen will ever be the same as holding a physical book.
