Katy: I'm thankful I have the best mom ever. Laura: Thank you, honey! How would you like to help the "Best mom ever" with some of this Thanksgiving cooking? Katy: I was hoping that "Best mom" thing would buy me some wiggle room. Laura: You can wiggle all you want after these potatoes are peeled.

Thanksgivings are best when everybody pitches in to prepare the grand feast. (I’ll be sure to keep everyone updated on how good the balloons are this year. ;-)

I would give a million dollars if I could help my mom fix Thanksgiving dinner.

So, why not ask Clayton and Adam for help too?

At least Mom is fixing real potatoes, and not opening a box.

My daughters love peeling potatoes and actually argue over who gets to do it. This year I’ll have one peel the potatoes and the other one peel the sweet potatoes. My guys just wait for everything to be done like Adam and Clayton.

Both kids should be helping, although not at the same time. If they’re old enough to be in school, they’re old enough to start learning how to cook, with proper supervision. (By the time I was about ten, I was better than Mom was at checking the seasoning in the stuffing by taste and had taken over getting it right.)

Mom had us all helping in some way. Pealing potatoes and chopping vegetables were allowed after we showed we wouldn’t chop off our fingers.
