My parents gave us each an allowance (started for me at 1 cent a week in the early mid 1950s and one could actually buy something with it then). That was our share of the family income (not paid for chores -just expected to do them as part of the family). As we aged it went up and so did what we had to pay for with it.
Also mom set up a “bank account” for me in lunch box – deposit/withdrawal slips and bank book. I truly believe it is what taught me about money and how to manage it.
Husband got money when he needed it and did not learn to save.
He needs those virtual-to-reality peripherals so he can play the massively multiplayer role playing game “Extreme Gardening”, while the peripherals actually do the weeding. :)

I just gave a $200 donation to a Scout Troop for cleaning up the sticks and raking my yard. One week later, a windstorm hit.

Well, at least Clayton is willing to work for money, unlike his spoiled sister.
But he’d probably earn more doing chores for the neighbors.

I guess we’ll never find out if Laura is interviewed by Oprah.

Ask dad for the lawnmower kid and start mowing yards and doing chores at the neighbors.

All work and no Playbox makes Clayton a dull boy.

You know. I might fork out the price of a game, that I might play to, just to see that.
