My misguided mutt does this with other pooches-even though Iām sure he is just excited and wants to play. Most dogs seem to understand, but not so much their owners.
I once had a cat who lived mostly indoors and when we moved here she got to go outside. I saw her first meeting with a pair of rabbits. She had no idea what they were but they had a good idea what she was. Every step she took towards them was countered by a step back by them. She got tired of them and came over to tell me about the rude, standoffish āpeopleā in her new neighbourhood.

Awwā¦I guess the bunny must not have had a language class in dog when s/he was in school. :)

My last dog tried that type of invitation to play with a baby skunk. It went ok until the momma showed up.
