From the customer side: When self check out first became a thing I tried it, never could get through without some problem, and saw the same thing with people around me. So, nope, ain’t gonna do it.

It drives me nuts at self checkout being stuck behind someone who can’t understand it. It seems so intuitive to me. I have asked people if I could help them. And they thank me for being so nice…when actually I am being impatient…politely.

there should be a limited of items for self-check out “like anyone would obey it” when some one has a over flowing shopping cart they should got to a regular register.

We have a small supermarket here in Newport that converted 5 of 6 registers to self-serve during COVID. They are convertible back to full serve but that does not appear to be happening. Long lines as as the amateurs try to check themselves out. Yeah, 1 full serve line and 5 self-serve. They claim they can’t get workers now.

From what I understand Covid unemployment pays more than having a job; so I guess some people don’t feel inclined to being employed…

I can usually do self check so much more quickly than wait for a cashier and I can see that the prices are showing up correctly. I will only go to a cashier if I have coupons to use. As far as taking someone’s job, the store nearest me is advertising to hire and not getting anyone.
