    Ballpark figures? I would think ballparks would really care how long a foot is.

    The mutual logic is inescapable. It struck me that the box must be less than 12 inches high. Otherwise we’re just dealing in commercial convenience. Not much sense in having 12-inch rulers that don’t take into account the different versions of what 12 inches are.
