    We played croquet as kids long, long ago. When I saw the landed gentry play croquet years later on TV, I realize then our version had very little in common with theirs.

    I have an idea playing with her requires ability to quickly duck, dodge and bolt. Would she like a planned hike while throwing, kicking and swinging? She would eventually be home to stretch out on the rug.

    Based on her equipment, I suspect Agnes played a style of full-contact croquet that might leave one rather winded. I wonder who her opponent was, if not Trout.
