Y’know, I’ve often wondered what kind of factory it is. A fish cannary, maybe??

I think that up to a point the school has a captive audience. I had one classmate who dropped out as a senior in high school and went into the Marines. But even in our rural area that was unusual.

What Agnes doesn’t want doesn’t matter.

I already knew how to read when I started school, and was absolutely incensed when I discovered I was expected to go back after the first day. FOR TWELVE MORE YEARS!

It’s fine with Grandma that Agnes doesn’t WANT to go to school. Had Agnes said “I’m not going to school anymore,” she might have gotten a different answer…

Is anyone suggesting that Agnes will ever “fall pregnant”? I love that term, as if somehow the young girl accidentally tripped and stumbled in the backseat of a ‘59 Chevy.
