    It’s just chemistry. If they have a sample, they should be able to replicate the contents in the correct balances. The problems would arise from discrete compounds that won’t form without knowing the proper prior process. They have electronic detectors that can detect the scents better than the human nose, to get it more than close enough. Horrifically expensive, though, one imagines, if done properly.

    So what scent was that? My favorite scent is Opium by Yves St. Laurent. I never really wear perfume any more, though and I still have a bunch of it. I think it is still available, though.

    And then there is the big “scam” of re-releasing nostalgic scents for those of us with disposable income. I bought some “Love’s Baby Soft” a couple of years ago, and it was reformulated to an unrecognizable disaster.
