I say it depends on the size of the display area. Now that I live in a retirement complex, everyone has a space outside their door for a decoration if you wish. I have a generic display there now, but was considering one for Christmas which would only require a Santa hat. What I have their now is a silly looking large frog sitting on a small table, along with a sign in its lap that says “Don’t let the cat out no matter what it says.” My Christmas touch would be a Santa Hat on the frog.
Every year, for the last few years, I buy a perfect pumpkin as soon as they become available, to put on a little table that lives on my porch. This is not a jack-o-lantern – I do not carve it (or celebrate Halloween ever since the teenage boys not in costume started coming to my door demanding candy). Instead this is my autumn celebration and every year I look forward to seeing how long it will last. This year it didn’t start to rot until late spring/early summer. That’s it for me. The only “holiday” I celebrate is Autumn.

My Granddaughter just started to decorate the house for Christmas. I said: “It’s not even Thanksgiving yet!”

Decor requires storing and then finding and putting back out later. I’m over it for the most part… maybe I’ll get back to it

I had an American roommate who spent the winter in Bavaria. When she came back, all her vowels were schwa-s. A very sort of languid affectation.
