At my second engineering job with a big corporation: Day 1 – “There will be no layoffs.” Day 30 – Fifteen percent of the workforce laid off. Day 60 – “The company is not closing down this branch facility.” Day 75 – “You can apply for a job at the main facility 700 miles away or quit.” Day 90 – “This office space for rent or lease.”
