To channel Number Six briefly: The first two panels are completely unnecessary (and the breaking of the 4th wall is just incompetent). The 4th panel is unnecessary (for those who know about Andy, which is to say, those reading this comic strip!) And the last panel would be better without Andy addressing the reader. This is one of my major beefs with the current Andy team: they always seem to need that little pat on the back from the readers. That’s why they break the 4th wall so needlessly and so often. Smythe did it sometimes, yes, for valid reasons. I hereby stop channeling Number Six (though I do wish that he would return, and Beviek, and others! Linguist is alive and well on other comic strips but I don’t know why he doesn’t pop in here now and again. He’s another one I miss.)
