Sidney’s half-century-plus-one-decade birthday is going to go swell thanks to Andrew living it up.

@Linguist Today’s strip is slightly funny our HERO Mr Andrew Capp’s promises to Flo to stay sober are as useless as mud , no way can Andy stay away when there is free beer :o) anyway a sober Andy is not what we like to read about , my avatar is of a past middle aged geezer , who thinks he’s God’s gift to women being put down cleverly by a clever lass ;o) comment avez vous passe votre jour , mon ami miens vieux de moi? our day should be very busy and we should cope I hope unless we kill each other :o) in the past if you went into a bank with a face mask you would get arrested now because of the @#&% pandemic you get arrested and get a two year prison sentence or a 2600 EURO fine if you don’t, go figure a bientot mon ami

Andy is in search of a good, (and yeasty), spirit at Sid’s party, so that he could also become the spirit of the party.

Serious question here: is getting drunk really all that great?

I passed up all the opportunities to drink in college (and even for a grade grind like me, there were plenty), but I do remember how…eager the drinkers were to just get drunk. It didn’t appear to be about “social drinking”, it was just about getting “wasted”.

I don’t get that. I’ve never done it, so I’d like for someone who has done it to explain: is it really that much fun? And again, I’m not talking about drinking to relax, or mellow out: I mean drinking with the express purpose of getting drunk. What am I missing?

If “Old Sid” is 60, how about that young rascal Capp?

You should try carrying a case of full glass bottles that way sometime… that guy has some major endurance! ;-)

While you’re at it Andy, raise one more for my brother. It’s his birthday today, too. Happy Birthday, Mark!

One night will seldom hurt anything, Andy. It’s all those other nights that do it.

Alfie must have really strong arms to hold a case of beer at arms’ length like that!

Right around this time last year, one of my neighbors threw a wild party, much to my chagrin. Thankfully, they won’t be able to do that this year. (Basically, that’s the only good thing about he quarantine.)
