About a week ago, I mentioned again that I live in Chester. One of my regular repliers told me that he didn’t know I lived in Chester so I stated in my next comment on Andy Capp that I have mentioned living in Chester several times.
One time when I mentioned living in Chester was about three years ago. I mentioned a legend in Chester about an alderman whose daughter eloped with her Welsh lover to Wales through the Pepper Gate which is named after Pepper Street which is said to have that name as it was once Chester’s hot spot. The alderman ordered that the Pepper Gate was to be locked every night and this gave rise to the saying “If your daughter’s missing, lock the Pepper Gate” when someone does something too late.
I was in Christleton Village which is south-east of Chester yesterday. I noticed that they have a Pepper Street there as well.
