About a month ago, I mentioned that the Saint used to appear in a daily comic strip (or adventure strip) and that one of the later Saint books The Saint In Pursuit was adapted from a story in the comic strip version as Leslie Charteris explains at the beginning.
Today, October 2, marks the 72nd anniversary of the first Peanuts strip. The official biography of Charles M. Schulz mentions some of the other notable occurrences in newspaper strips on October 2 1950 and these include the Saint telling a femme fatale that he would be turning her over to the cops. The story arc which was adapted for The Saint In Pursuit came nine years later.
A Common Tater replied to me yesterday that the Daily Mirror has supported the Labour Party since 1945. I’m well aware of that. My Dad was a Labour supporter and my Mum was a Liberal supporter. During the 1980s, when Labour was even more unpopular than Maggie Thatcher and their unpopularity kept Maggie in power, my Dad voted Liberal along with my Mum but the Mirror remained loyal to the Labour Party even then.
UNBELIEVEABLE!!! First, Andy makes tea. Second, he sits and relaxes with his wife. Third, he listens to his wife talk about what’s in the paper about work salaries. And, last but not least, Andy actually goes to the Job Centre wanting a job. A high-paying boss job, but a job nonetheless.
Let us all pray that Flo is not having a heart attack.

Possibly the shock is a double-feature. Andy making tea for them both and applying for a job… :)

Flo’s zodiac sign must be Leo – we’ve been into lot of shocks lately (and still). Andy must be a Gemini for slithering around

Flo got two massive shocks — first, that Andy made tea for her. Second, that a horoscope was accurate.

May I inquire discreetly
When are you free to take some tea with me?
