When Warbucks escaped, the camp was asleep, except for the guards. Now, it is almost nightfall. Were they taking an evening nap, did the firefight last 10 hours, or what?
I saw (T.V.) a demonstration of tracking using bloodhounds. The dogs were not using scent from the subject’s footprints. They were following a trail of molecules given off by the subject as a whole. The molecules “landed” several yards downwind from the path the subject had taken, and it was this path, not the footprint path, the dogs followed. Even though these are not bloodhounds, I would think they should be able to follow Warbucks.
