Morning, Anniephans! GMartin has raised some interesting questions. And the comment I have is that, to my knowledge, this is the only time when we see Little Annie actually kill somebody. Someone with a better memory than mine might correct me on this. Here’s the link to Annie 2003 .
I didn’t think Bonifay was on board. Isn’t he negotiating the hostage deal on shore? Ohhh…I’m SO confused. Just like I was most of last month and in fact the last three or so years.
without direct knowledge of the killing capability of a flare gun, it seems to me that a gun that is capable of shooting a projectile of any kind to a great height, discharged at point blank range into a human midsection would cause massive internal damage
Aren’t flare guns single shot? You’d have to reload each time. The bore on a WW1 flare gun I had was a good inch and a half, at least. It would hurt even without a flaming charge. But the poof of smoke emerges between Annie and Ketsu-Go. I doubt if anyone in a moving dirigible would risk a shot from such a distance at night knowing there was a hostage involved.
Yep, they’re single-shot all right, but she musta been readying it for another round to make sure.OR for sake of plot line, the second shot came from the grassy knoll. At least we now know that KetsSu-Go is multi-syllabic !! Ur-r-r-r-r-rr! Yeeee!! Yaaahhhh!!Stay tuned, boysen-berries! Keep your decoder rings handy!!The dirigible will be along ‘Short-ly.’
If you look at the last panel in Sunday’s strip, it’s pretty clear that the second flare originated between Annie and K-G. My only problem is that in the previous panel she’s holding the gun in her right hand, and in the last panel he’s holding her right hand in a way that I don’t think she could’ve shot him in the gut. However, I think I’ll stop analyzing and enjoy the story.
Oh, Lord.. Too many Jay Ward’s old cartoon shows runningaround in my head. Rocky, Bullwinkle, Boris & Natasha…BTW:What’s the definition of an elitist? “Someone who can hear the William Tell Overture and not think of The Lone Ranger!”
