Good Morning, Anniephans! If memory serves me correctly, the Doctor Dark story is one loose thread that Maeder never tied up. I don’t think Doctor Dark is ever mentioned again, although elements of the story turned up in the Xaxos arc.
P1 – Annie, by Jay Maeder and Alan Kupperberg / Steady, Gilbreath! Up you come, then! Let’s go home!P2 – Thup-thup! Thup-thup! P3 – There they go, Admiral! The Russians are calling it quits. They’re slinking away! / Yes, Gilbreath, their submersible is wrecked. They’re out of business for the moment.P4 – But we’ll surely hear from them again. Those are private business interests. They have much invested in this operation. / Well, Sir, they’ll hear from our side again as well.P5 – I must make a full report to the United States Navy! / Indeed you must, Lieutenant. You are an officer. Your duty is clear.P6 – Still, Sir, we could destroy Doctor Dark, just us, right now. And put an end to this, forever. / I am aware of that Lieutenant. I am also aware that the decision is not ours. The next step is the Enemy’s. I, too, can barely make out the print at 200x on this ol’ CRT, but it’s just a mite sharper on my Win7 laptop’s 16" screen.For those that aren’t ‘most people’ , click on ‘page’ at the top of your browser. click on the ‘zoom’ drop-down and adjust from there. Quick and dirty method, hold ‘Ctrl’ down while pressing the + or – on the calculator side of the kbd. OBTW; he DID say “the next step is the Navy’s” Boy, readin’ the funnies ain’t been this hard since I was SIX !
