I like it that Arlo, while grown older, has opted to not grow up. Imagination is a lost art.

Last mowing until spring. Get out the snow blower. When I lived in upstate NY. I used my snow blower more than my lawn mower.

Sigh……around here we have to wait for a dry week between rainstorms, hoping the ground dries out enough so we can walk on the waterlogged grass.

If we don’t mow down the new growth, it’s soon 2 feet high, and then it rains again.

But at least there’s no snow!!! ……. uh….oops, sorry, Varnes.

Tucson. Last time it snowed there was 1997. And you never have to mow desert varnish.

I’m glad this one ran. I gotta winterize my mowers…. or dig a cliff in the neghbor’s back yard.

At least it’s not a riding mower. Riding mowers are a good example of what’s wrong with America. I’ve got a fair sized yard — just mowing the edge of the driveway makes for almost a mile of mowing (rural and it’s a city block long). But even with that, back when I had a riding mower it saved me 15 whole minutes over pushing a mower around. Yard’s a bit smaller now but the time difference is similar. The point is that I get a couple of hours of exercise and it only costs me 15 minutes over what I’d spend sitting on my butt mowing. And it’s cheaper. I gave the riding mower to someone with a rather larger yard.

Janis will reel him back and show him winter’s tool in that shed and how he will have fun using it for the kids.

LaffinLarry" Before I added onto the house, my lawn mowing was three miles long, 280’ of which is a ditch which makes riding impossible – indeed some of it can only be mowed across the ditch, which means dragging the mower back to the top. I think it is still over 2.5 miles of resisted walking per mow.

What a great feeling to store the lawn mower for the year. Can’t blame Arlo for thinking about pushing it off a cliff. That is exactly my feeling when I store my mower.

Because of the severe drought I only had to mow once this year. I guess there are silver linings to every cloud.
