OK, again…. these are public forums. Some of us here are far luckier than others…. if you use perfect grammar, please… be grateful. You may have been sent to good schools, had diligent, educated parents or been raised in neighborhoods where good grammar is well modelled. You may simply have an aptitude for those subjects or perhaps have been born more intelligent than some other people — and you did nothing to earn that bit of grace. And you’re obviously a good enough typist to avoid all typos. But this forum is for everyone. There are no educational prerequisites and there’s no entrance exam or typing test. Some quite wonderful people in my life are or have been poor spellers, due to things like poor vision in first grade, a bad home environment or educational system into which they fell, English as a second language, or having to work instead of going to school. It’s true that some people can overcome those things; some have neither the role models nor the time for much education. If I see a poster spell-checking others or boasting about his own grammar, and he makes a mistake… sure, I’ll call him on it.(yes, yes… or her… sigh)But if fellow comics lovers whose English language skills, in your esimation, are not up to par merely want to chime in with a thought or an opinion…. to me, it’s rude and unfriendly to embarrass them. I know….by standing up for the language-impaired, I’ve left myself wide open to be grammar-checked or spell-checked, myself…Well, knock yourself out.LOL!I’m tough and I don’t mind the critique…. but some people are, strangely enough, quite sensitive to being made to feel inferior.
