Janis: When you ask if we talk about "men"...
Janis: That's what I figured!
Janis: Well, don't men talk about women?
Arlo: Sometimes, but in general terms!
Arlo: I have a hunch women's conversation is much more interesting!
In my job I was often around groups of women meeting, and the conversations were almost always about men. Complaining about boyfriends and husbands was the usual topic.
Whose conversation is the most interesting may depend on the individual. Some women just want to talk about shopping and coupons and clothes and stuff . . .YAWN. Iâd rather wander over and hear the guys talk about sports and cars and stuff, even though Iâm not that interested in sports or cars, either. Maybe I think the guys are more interesting!
I listened to a number of women discuss their spouseâs shortcomings at length or briefly one time only to have them ask me why I wasnât married yet..âHavenât found the perfect woman who would also consider marrying me yet.â.âOh, you should marry, Itâs the most wonderful thing in the world.â
Not based on what they had just said. That was before I learned women like to gripe and are happy to have a good reason.
Too late for just about anyone to see this . . . but it occurred to me that 30 or so-ish years ago, the women in our group wanted to get together and take trips and do things together. Iâd noticed that when the women got together, theyâd often dis their husbands. I didnât feel like doing that (no big virtue on my part, but my husband wasnât that bad, and I just didnât want to). So I passed. Iâve also seen men on another comic site never pass up a chance to say something snide whenever women are mentioned. There was one who was particularly awful, but he has disappeared. Whew. So it depends on the individual.

Womenâs conversation is much more interesting because we talk about topics other than men.

The âholdâ women have over men is that weâre still a âmysteryâ to them. Janis, keep the mystery going.

Is it me or does this read better with panels 2 and 3 switched? It seems to flow better that way.
