We like to play the lazy cat game. She sits on the table, I put something on the table in front of her and she bats it off with just a flick of a paw…Of course I have to fetch it….But she can do that for hours…..
This past week we’ve been dealing with Janis’ grandmother’s dishes. Yesterday afternoon, Hubby and I found a box of my mum’s china in the barn. (She died in 2011, and was an Olympic class packrat.)
Does anybody want a service for six of Imari china?
I’m probably going to end up taking this to one of the nicer thrift stores. The local antique store said it is virtually worthless. To be perfectly honest, I wouldn’t put anything that might have monetary or sentimental value in the dishwasher. Our “good” china is something I purchased at the A&P in the 60s. It has a pretty Early American sort of design, and even though it wasn’t expensive I always hand wash it. It didn’t cost much then, but buying pieces from Replacements, LTD is a bit on the pricey side.
I finally, after 24 years of marriage, got rid of the dishes my husband had from his former marriage, and my dime-store specials (a few decades was enough!). We now have a nice set of Fiesta, bought open-stock to get pieces we actually use, as opposed to things that just sit in the cupboard and take up space.
Lots of speculation on this one.My take Janis is in a bit of a pique about no one wanting the heirloom china. Ludie has just knocked one of her drinling glasses off the table and broke it. Any anger she might feel over the broken glass is suppressed by her depression (“caught me at the right time”). She merely replaces the glass in spite, risking a deliberate attack from Ludwig. How’d I do?
A few years ago, the government sanctioned a study. It involved 100’s of universities and millions of dollars. They researched income, ethnic background, religious beliefs, gun ownership, alcohol consumption, DNA, education level and newspaper comic readers. They found that only Democrats allow their cats on the counter tops and tables.

Still, I don’t like cleaning up broken glass.

You know, the more I think about it, I’m not sure I get this one. What does she mean “You caught me at the Right time”?

Took me a minute to get this. She’s disgusted about the china set.
