Poor, poor Arlo! It is obvious that Janice is not in love with him anymore but he just doesn’t see it. I think she loves him but in her mind she believes she can do better. She longs for stimulating conversation, adventure, excitement, etc and feeling her youth slipping away she knows that her chances of finding these things are fading fast. She hates her life and mundane existence yet is afraid to take a chance. She feels trapped…and she feels guilt. It isn’t fair to Arlo – for she knows she has grown distant – but what can she do?? She is confused and becoming more resentful towards Arlo with each passing day. How much longer can she hide her feelings from him?!
