That’s it! You kids crashed the car again and I had to come and pick you up at the police station! No more frug, no more watusi, no more mashed patata, no slop! You kids are going to stay home tomorrow and your mother and I are going to see Tony Bennett! And you know what else? We’re going to do the waltz and the tango and the bunny hop and maybe even the hokey pokey! Downtown! Downtown!

Land of a Thousand Dances.

The other day, my wife – who is seriously rhythmically challenged – surprised me by saying “Let’s dance; a slow one then a fast one!”

I put on Pandora to my Lee Dorsey channel; first up was Lee doing a slow one, next was Wilson Picket doing “99 1/2”. Perfect! About halfway through, i realized that I was dancing carefully – not, as one might expect, because I’m old & broken down, but out of a long-ingrained urge to not make the needle skip……..

As to the strip, on my 27th b-day, the band I was doing sound for may very well have been playing “Land Of A Thousand Dances” when she first approached my board & asked to put her coat on my table (35 years later, still [usually] glad I said “Sure!”)

About nine months after the “hormone shuffle” comes the “new baby” mambo.

They still dance the pony in Equestria.

Yup did them all learned from my mom and dad
