Shrug. I buy movies all the time. If I like something, I have no problem watching it over and over. Very rarely do I ever buy a movie I haven’t seen already, so I almost always know what I’m getting into.
I just wait until first-run movies are released on DVD. Then I get them from the library for free. If I absolutely cannot wait in the library queue (like, I’m number 200 on the wait-list), then through our cable company, I can rent a viewing for about $5. Cheaper than going to the movies.
First they made us buy vhs, then it on dvd, then maybe on blue ray and now they are on streaming(also having to buy a new device to play them) Obsolete and more $$$ for them
I have to admit I did that a lot, but I’ve tapered back considerable. I’ve had to keep obsolete media players around so I can play them. I even have a laser disc player.
At least with videos, you can watch a movie straight through. With a record album, you’re flipping it over every half hour or less. (though I am slowly working through my collection and converting them to store on my computer for actual playing)
I have seen Comcast charging rent for ten year old movies if there is a new one on the series. Ridiculous! Just read a synopsis online if you forget what happened.
I found a DVD /VHS combo player at BestBuy, my husband bought me a laser disc player as a gift. Yes…I’m still watching movies on it and Blu-ray & streaming…Guess all my bases are covered. :^)

“Bad Day at Black Rock” has been out since 1955 and they still want you to buy or rent.

I don’t do it often, but if I do “buy” a digital movie, it still usually costs less than two tickets, popcorn etc. at the multiplex…

Um, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, etc. Netflix still has discs which usually include the bonus features.

Oh, I forgot. We also have theatrical movies – although not all are the full movie – on 16 mm sound film.
