The biggest criminals in the world are the people in charge of filling up potato chip packets.
The extra “air” (usually nitrogen) is to make the bag puffy so that the chips don’t get crushed when the bag is jammed into the grocery bag. Cheaper brands typically use much less “air padding”. That said, I usually like the cheaper brands.
