I was the designated TV “smacker” in my family as I seemed to have a knack for being able to get it just right. I remember even making myself an “extension” with two yardsticks tied together… ☺
Three commercial channels plus PBS and we had to turn the antenna to pick up one of them. I thought it was great when we got a motor to rotate is instead of having to go into the yard and do it by hand. Now you know how old I am.

I agree. When I worked in retail I only had one major problem. Management wouldn’t let me choke the customers who desperately needed it. Lol.

the modern day equivalent is rebooting/power cycling. This doesn’t work with people, when they are turn off they stay off.
