American eating habits are generally poor. Not only do we eat too much of the wrong stuff (sugars and fats in particular), but we don’t eat the right way.
We eat according to the clock even if we are not hungry and we eat everything on our plate (blame mom and grandma for that). Also, we are used to eating large portions. The first thing you should do when you are served a meal at a restaurant is cut it in half.
If we ate only when we got hungry (food tastes better and “feels” better) and stop when we are not hungry (take a very small portion then go back for seconds if you must) we’d all be in better shape.
Try doing that on a typical person’s schedule. Although I have to admit, working from home has made it easier and I am probably one of the few people who have lost weight!
