    One string would work for bass guitar… Need at least 2 strings for lead guitar.

    Actually a mouth bow used to be an instrument played much like a Jews harp (jaw harp if you prefer). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZFzXXnGAjY

    The first string instruments actually had only one string. You can play tunes by altering the effective length (like we do with our string instruments) or the tension (like we do with our vocal chords).
