Store Employee: A winning lotto ticket? Tia Carmen: But she can't cash it because she's illegal. Woman: I know. Wait if you cash my ticket and we share the money. But maybe you can give a deposit to show you're honest. Tia Carmen: Well, I do have some money in my savings. Tia Carmen: Will $5,000 do? Woman: ¡Si! That's good. Man: For $10 million? Of course!

I really hope that Tia is wise to this. I’d really hate to see her scammed. She does have a knack of knowing whats going on even if she looks like she doesn’t.

maybe she is quite aware and is pretending to be the willing target to lure them to the authorities ……either way, this ‘toon does a service bringing this threat to the attention of the guileless….

Seriously? Does nobody recognize this as a repeat from last year? This might not even be the first time it’s been repeated.
margueritem almost 15 years ago
Yes, it’s a repeat, but teaches a good lesson. I wrote my first fan letter to the authors after this arc appeared.

It is a good lesson, but the windup is PAINFULLY slow. I think it would’ve been more effective if he hadn’t put any sinister expressions on the scammers at all until the reveal.
