Transcript:
Baldo: I have a huge algebra final tomorrow. I know I'm gonna fail. Dad: Baldo, you need to change you attitude. Dad: As a wise man once said... 'a pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity...' Dad: 'An optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.' Dad: And this father sees we're staying up until 3 a.m.

ALGEBRA…YUCK!

Algebra is not too bad as long as you know how to do it.

Can’t miss a step. Found that out the hard way!

I really never could handle algebra - give me geometry any day.

Two methods for studying:
Cram all night Get a good night sleepSome scholars have developed a third, but after four years of trial, I wouldn’t recommend it

All through High School and the various College Degrees I never crammed for a test. I studied each day what had been taught in class and reviewed the material what had been taught that week. Preparations for finals was an extra hour of sleep, a good meal before school, and 15 minutes review (an hour for really hard classes) of what my notes and highlighted books contained.
An “A” every time, heck no. But a nice 3.7 GPA. Preparation counts.
Gracias,
Glenn

I loved algebra. Not so much geometry. And calculus after the first semester was the best!
I have achieved the age where I really miss school.

I have taken calculus twice. Did ok, both times. Show me a problem and I would fail it now.

Maybe Papi should give up on the idea of college education for Baldo. That boy clearly doesn’t belong in general high school.
The way he’s passionate about cars he should be in some work experience program as a mechanic or metalworker.

I had taken Algebra (basic) at High School. It was good to know how to figure out in that course. It was not easy but tried the best!

Joe, shouldn’t that be “Algebra X, Y, & Z”?
(Just a joke, not a dig.)

Algebra is really to first symbolic math people take and the basis for all of Calculus. It is the leap from physical mathematics which is all math from addition thru geometry to the pure symbolic math of algebra that is difficult to adjust to.

If you abandon the expectation that jokes should be logical, you might find you enjoy them more.

Joe,
About your first comment, from the looks of that book, maybe 4, 5 and 6 also. LOL
In high school I found all the math courses easy for me. I got through 2 semesters of Calculus at the U of Arizona before dropping out. I decided I didn’t want to be an engineer. I have never regretted that decision.
fritzoid,
X, Y and Z!! I find that funny in the context of other comments.

fritzoid and others,
Logic applied to comics is very overrated!

If X+Y=Z, it is sometimes funny to “prove” that X+Y=Q. It is sometimes funny to “prove” that X+B=Z. It is sometimes funny to “prove” that X+cheese=Lincoln Nebraska. But the proof that X+Y=Z is rarely funny.

I passed high school Algebra by the skin of my teeth. The teacher was a very intelligent man, but he couldn’t explain how to get out of a paper bag. Then, in college, I had a teacher who was so good at explaining how things were supposed to work that I could practically sleep through the class and still ace the class (good thing, since I have a sleep disorder with a Narcolepsy component).
