tía carmen is just the type of person to have her inner bits in unusual places. but , seriously, it does happen. although, i doubt to tia carmen, i suspect.

It turns out my innerds are switched around, and my doctor didn’t know about it until he went in for an emergency hernia repair when my hernia strangulated. Talk about cutting on the fly.

Your spleen isn’t only on the left, Tia Carmen, it’s in front, roughly under your heart. Judging by where you’re holding your hand, it might be your kidney, possibly a stone. Or, of course, it could be nothing worse than a sore muscle.

Excess spleen would explain her occasional melancholia.

Actually happened to a friend of mine, except that it was his inflamed appendix that was on the “wrong” side, leading to a dangerous misdiagnosis.
