In most of the US, you can’t see many stars at all due to both light pollution and air pollution.

Star gazing is relaxing and expands the imagination. Viewing the idiot box is a mind-numbing soporific !

back when I was young I spent 6 week playing war games in a part of Death Valley I was amazed how bright it was at night. You could easily read a paper just by the light of the moon. And if no moon the star light alone provided enough light so everything looked like late twilight.Made me recall early histories in a much different light as I had thought that come dark everyone just went to bed.several years later I went camping in the dead of winter, so bright with moon and star light shining off snow, just like day light.(both times was very far away from any city lights-this was 40 years ago, LA and Vegas light glow could be seen 100 miles away

Those were the days, growing up in a small town where you could look at the stars and watch the lightning bugs. Now with the light and air pollution, plus the mosquitoes, it’s not relaxing at all.

Too much night time light to see much. The glow blocks from seeing any but the few planets and stars bright enough.
