School here does not start until after Labor Day and never has started earlier as far as I know. I was totally surprised when I learned – when school was long behind me – that in other states school starts earlier in the year.

Democrats want to ban guns from schools.

Not unusual around the world for schools to be in session year-round. Often with more and sometimes longer breaks throughout the year.

School started August 12 here.

Mostly the Wenesday after Labor Day here which used to be the rule for all school districts, now – some on Tuesday and some on Thursday and one district started last week.
