Thanks to all of for your kind wishes. I don’t know what hurts more, my pride or my ribs. Imagine the client’s surprise watching 240 lbs. of me bounce at his feet ! I’m lucky that it was only the ribs. No cuts or scrapes just chagrin at being such a klutz.Having broken, bruised, and cracked my ribs before, I know that taping them is only a placebo. The only thing you can do is be careful and go through the painful healing process. The biggest pain is getting in and out of the car. I guess washing the dog and vacuuming will have to wait awhile – which will make dog happy.
A couple years ago I tripped and fell face first on the floor. Sprained my wrist, had a hairline fracture on my elbow and broke my nose. To this very day my nose does the twist every time it rains.
I don’t have a problem with umbrellas – but me and coat hangers do not get along.@Linguist – hope you are feeling better – at least you got the consulting job. With every bad comes some good.Recently, I tripped over a sign going into Lowe’s and did quite a dance before running into a line of shopping carts. At my age, did not want to fall. Other customers were having a good laugh at my expense but I didn’t fall. Was just hoping it didn’t end up on u-tube.
Huff…. puff… whew…Never made it to Ballard St. on Saturday…. and of course the bus doesn’t run now…had to walk from the train station…. Stel said I could call the dog hotel for a ride but it’s 2am.
Oh Linguist! You and Beviek both need to listen to the advice I give all my friends:DON’T FALL DOWN.
Of course, they don’t follow it either…. and unfortunately, neither do I.
I’ve had a few spectacularly embarrassing falls myself…and I know what it’s like.
Tomorrow I’ll bring you both some chicken soup. And Salonpas.
I gotta get some sleep….See you in the morning…. well, MY morning,,,
Hey…. did I just see the Monkey?Weren’t you supposed to be far away all weekend?
Well, if you’re here…. do you think you could look for x_Tech?He seems to be missing.
I’m sitting around doing a little listening to some blues, …>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>As I prepare for Isaac’s arrival – who I hope is a No Show – I’m listening to a mix of George Benson- Absolute Benson, Wynton Marsalis – Marsalis Standard Time, and Chris Flory – City Life.Perfect trio for a breezy afternoon.
How’re you doin’? It’s a pretty quiet week-end on Ballard St., and, indeed at GoComics. The weather is too beautiful to stay in or others are preparing for severe weather. Hope everything’s OK with you.
Hey, I do that all the time. The things in the world that are out to get me need to be punished, and severely. But for some reason I keep ending up with piles of junk instead of useful stuff…
Oh Linguist, do be careful…. old hand or not!Hope the ribs are feeling better today, and you’re well sheltered….(and the ship strongly tied, if you sailed home to Florida, and didn’t leave it safely anchored off Ballard St.)
We have quite a few other site denizens and visitors from the Gulf area…. hope you’re all safe and snug.
Stel! Have they caught Mr. DeDeurwadar? Hope they made him stop before they locked him up. They’ve already run out of umbrella spray at Ballard Hardware.
I hate using the stuff anyway…. it’s not very ecological. But sometimes it just comes down to “OK, it’s the umbrellas or me .”
Thanks for the recipe page link…. I’d heard of it but thought it was a fable, such as mothers tell the children on rainy nights…
“Yes, Alice, there IS a page of secret recipes and formulae, far, far away under the sign of the dog…and some day when you’re older…”
I already have x_Tech’s formatting page bookmarked, and I direct people to it.Learned a new trick there myself the other day.
Monkey…. ooops. I read “Labor Day” but didn’t process it.
Yo Red…!!! Right ON with Tinsley E…!!!Teh man is awesome..!!! I got several of his CDs an Mah fav is Speak No Evil from Oct ‘09… Partikaler to a few cuts like Grow A Pair and The Other Side… He’s amazin’…!!!
beviek, StelBel, SusanSunshine at. alThanks for your concerns and well wishes. It appears that Issac has decided that he won’t visit my little slice of paradise with all his might. Aside from some rain squalls and wind gusts, the storm is heading out in the Gulf.Good news for me but not for my friends in New Orleans and Baton Rouge. If the trackers are to be believed, it could turn into a Cat.2 hurricane and slam into New Orleans on the 7th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Let’s all pray that it doesn’t happen and the storm blows itself out before making landfall.I will let you know tomorrow exactly what’s happened here. Also, much thanks for the links. I’ll post the recipe on that site tomorrow.I also have a recipe for whole rooster… I meant roaster chicken…sorry Stel, my bad.Good to see you back Number Six.I wonder if Storm might be able to help get rid of Isaac ? I’ve seen the way she gets rid of unwanted guests.

Evelyn is becoming increasingly dismayed at the burgeoning barrel of broken umbrellas out on the sidewalk…

Kevin’s broken umbrellas have called in reinforcements! Ballard St. residents grow increasingly concerned!
StelBel over 12 years ago
Citizens have taken to using umbrellas everywhere, regardless of the weather, to avoid being hit by falling umbrellas.
