Not being that fanatic about Queen lyrics, I can’t answer the disaster question … but I assure you, Sherriann, that nobody has ever really seen much of Banks’ body as far as I can recall over the years. In fact, until you mentioned that, I had never noticed that his hands look just like Chuck’s (i.e. almost paw-like).
Anyway, Banks is now, and has always been, a dog.
With a couple of exceptions besides talking, too: he has the mind to master a great many academic and technical areas, and he has been in his prime for many, many decades (longer than any other character in the strip, at least) - so the phrase “dog years” means approximately the opposite of the usual. I suppose he’ll live seven times longer than a human, not 1/7 as long.
