I had some serious reservations about a movie, finally watched it,…The Princess Bride. I actually liked the movie. It will probably be a while before I get around to watching Dune though.
I’m going to have to be mad at Scott for awhile. I’ve got the full set of the Dune books, a hugely great epic. And the movies, they were good too. So,,, suck on it Scott. heheheheheheeh
Has got to be the first time I’ve ever heard anyone like Dune Messiah better than Dune. And…IMHO, God Emperor of Dune was the best. For an SF fanatic like me (72) the experience of reading Dune for the first time was transcendental.

The movie discouraged me from reading the book for a long time. I’m glad I finally did; the first volume at least is far more intelligent.

Dune is definitely not the worst book I’ve ever read, but it’s also definitely not a page-turner.

If he’s referring to the 1984 file, it didn’t teach them anything — Ishtar followed in 1987.
