English is not my native language, so I don’t get the pun. I know what a pinion is in automobiles, but does it have a double meaning? I like the joke with the rack though.
My husband and I were shopping. We went into the automotive section of a store and asked the clerk for a “tap and die set” The clerk said – in all seriousness – “I don’t know about the tap, but the dye is in cosmetics.”
If you think that rack looks foolish, just be thankful he didn’t strap on a different type of “rack!” As in, you need a bra for the front of your vehicle now…
@ujeanAh! Thank you. As a non-native speaker I didn’t know that.I like the way you can play with the double meaning of English words, but some of those double meanings I just don’t know. Nevertheless, when in the US or the UK I get taken out by my colleagues I can laugh about most of their jokes, so I am not doing that bad, I guess.
