My mother was so afraid of getting Alzheimer’s, like her mother. When her mind started to slip, she got checked. She called me and said, “Good news: I don’t have Alzheimer’s!” I congratulated her. Later, my brother called me: “Did you hear?” “Yes,” I said, “Mom doesn’t have Alzheimer’s!” He said, “Yeah…she has Dementia!”

Here in Northern Arizona bubonic plague is not so rare that it would be ludicrous. We average around a case a year, carried by prairie dog fleas. We also have Haanta virus, which is a lot worse. Y’all come on down!

Also New Mexico – in fact, the science fiction convention there is called Bubonicon. I asked why and was told it’s because since they have bubonic plague, bubonicon sounded cute. Ummm, I guess I don’t quite share their sense of humor.

Hey Flagmichael, I also live in Northern Arizona!

Read an article recently…it was the Pneumonic Plague, not Bubonic. Pneumonic is airborne and would explain it’s rapid spread. Bubonic is spread by fleas and animal bites. (They did DNA tests on skeletal remains to find out). It was very interesting, but very sad for the people.

Bad News -Oh sure. Go with the measles. Causes deafness. Blindness. Death..Good News – Instead of the Plague’s nasty leaky boils, you get pretty red spots. .
