It is an idea, not too bright, but an idea.

My parents marked our height on the back of the pantry door.

good job, we had to leave the marks of our kids when we sold our house and it made me so sad. I did hear a good idea the other day on here or on pintrest, not sure but instead of using a wall, get a 2×4, paint it and use it and that way you can take it with you if you ever move.

We did our kids’ on the back of their bedroom door. When we moved, I carefully marked heights on a long sheet of tracing paper, then transferred markings to a wall in our new basement.

Definitely a good way to handle it. It is exceedingly difficult to find really large nice frames however. I search for them for my own art. A friend brought the 2 flanking ones from Mexico for me in this case Others I HAVE bought at resale places. I only occasionally pay for a custom frame.

Didn’t they move into this house just after Mia was born? How did the boys’ earlier heights get marked on this wall?

On an episode of Hot in Cleveland, one of the women sold her family’s old house and she made a deal with the new owners that she could take the part of the door frame she measured her kids on with her when she turned over the house to them. You can see it in the background in the kitchen scene, which I find a really nice touch.
